The importance of oils.

Essential for your pigeons.

Because the pigeon has a completely different respiratory and metabolic system compared to humans, it can achieve phenomenal performances. If humans, for example, consume too many fats, they become fat. A pigeon, on the other hand, needs fats as fuel for hours of flying performance. Why is that exactly?

A well-oiled flying machine.

The mix for the aviation fuel.

A pigeon is a real flying machine if it has the right nutrients to perform. The primary driver here are the lipids (= oils or fats). The fats are accumulated in the red pectoral muscle. This muscle, in which the energy-rich fats are stored in the form of small droplets, has a very high endurance.

In contrast, glycogen (= sugars) is stored in the white muscles (neck, shoulder, tail): a weaker fuel, and therefore only suitable for short efforts due to possible lactic acid formation.

A third and last crucial element of the fuel for healthy pigeons is oxygen. Together with a good portion of oxygen, the fats are transformed into ATP, a kind of biological battery, which enables the pigeon to fly for hours.

Did you know that pigeons get up to 10 times more oxygen from the air than humans?

CUROL for the right fat level.

When a pigeon receives sufficient fatty nutrients, it will perform better. Thanks to the simultaneous storage of large quantities of oxygen, they can burn the fats and convert them into energy. This is why we recommend supporting the pigeon with a daily portion of oil, so that the fat absorption increases.

In the COMED Race schedule, fat is central in the form of oil: Curol.

Because oil cannot be mixed with grain indefinitely, we developed Load Pul, Load Caps and Miobol as supplements. These make it possible to administer fats in a solid form, easily absorbed and in the same way as the body, in larger quantities. A few days before basketing these are a valuable support during middle distance and long distance races.
